Food Sensitivity and Allergy Testing

Allergy or Intolerance?

A substance may be harmless to one individual, whilst causing mild to severe symptom to another.

People often get food allergy and food intolerance confused and think that they are the same thing. However food allergies are usually much more severe than food intolerance and involve different parts of the immune system and can lead to anaphylactic shock. Other symptoms include swollen lips, mouth and tongue, urticaria (rash) and vomiting. Common foods causing allergy are peanuts or shellfish.

(Information continued below)

Food Intolerance or sensitivity is sometimes due to:
  • Irritants such as toxins. For example the pesticides sprayed on wheat and other crops may be the culprit rather than the food itself
  • Irritants such as food additives
  • Adverse reaction of certain foods
  • Inborn or acquired biochemical defect (such as inability to digest milk sugar or wheat gluten)
Food Intolerance reveals itself as:
  • unspecific clusters of symptoms
  • slower reaction to offending substances (allergies tend to be immediate)
  • greater quantities of the offending substance are required to produce effects
  • may appear, disappear and reappear according to frequency of eating substance
  • in 50% of cases, a craving for the substance will exist

With a food intolerance, food passes from the gut into the blood stream before the protein fragments (peptides) are broken down properly and causes reactions due to a leaky gut and problems with digestive enzymes. A leaky gut can be healed by following a specific diet, removing where necessary contributory toxins and pathogens (candida overgrowth in the gut creates an inflammatory response), along with nutritional supplements.

Fortunately food intolerances are usually more reversible then allergies.

The most common food intolerances are milk, eggs, nuts, fish/shellfish, wheat, chocolate, pork/bacon, chicken, tomato, soft fruit, cheese, coffee and yeast.

Food intolerances can affect people in a variety of ways:

Emotions – irritable on waking, low self confidence, depression, mood swings, panic attacks

Metabolism – generalised slowing down or speeding up, feeling drained, slow getting started each morning, persistent fatigue

Digestive – abdominal bloating, flatulence, constipation, diarrhoea, binging, nausea, frequent urination, food cravings

Dermatological – itching, rashes, eczema, blotchy skin, excessive sweating

Brain Function – doped feeling, feeling de-personalised, inability to think clearly, slow reactions, poor sleep

Circulatory – high or low blood pressure, feeling faint/dizzy, headache, palpitations

Respiratory – asthma, chest pains, sneezing/coughing, rhinitis, stiff tongue/throat

Muscular/Skeletal – aching muscles, cramps, swollen, painful joints, weakness/shaking, weight difficulties

By avoiding foods you may be sensitive or intolerant to, you will very quickly start to feel an improvement. Additionally most people with a food sensitivity are short of nutrients because they can find it difficult to absorb vitamins and minerals.

Method of Testing

The testing takes place at an energetic level and is not the same as in orthodox, medical testing. The body is introduced to various dried food substances held in a small glass vials in or in a vial containing the vibrational imprint or energy signature of a particular foodstuff that the body will recognise (You can also bring your own samples of particular foodstuffs that you feel may be causing problems). The testing vial is placed on a conductive metal platform and the client is connected to this via a hand held metal bar. I sit at the foot of the bed with my hand lightly resting on the feet. The body when recognising the energy of a particular aggravating food, goes into an extremely subtle stress reaction which is picked up by me through a form of muscle testing (Non-Force Applied Kinesiology). This reaction is very rarely felt by the client. Any stress response to foods will be registered from very mild to very severe. Afterwards the results will be discussed and a report given along with fact sheets where applicable to give you help in making any necessary dietary changes.

Additional Allergy testing will also cover:
  • Pollens – tree, flower, grass
  • House dust mites
  • Moulds
  • Animals – dogs, cats, horses, birds
  • Tobacco smoke
The Allergy & Intolerance Test:

Gives Follow up advice. Is non-invasive. No difficult blood test. No messy stool or urine samples. Is completely confidential. Gives immediate results.

Nutritional Deficiencies

Nutritional deficiencies in the general population are more usual than any of us would like to think. Modern agricultural practices mean the soils our food is grown in have become depleted of their minerals and fruits and vegetables can be stored over many months so losing a certain amount of their original nutrients. I frequently find clients are magnesium deficient as it is so lacking in many soils. There are many additional reasons why our nutrient levels such as magnesium can become depleted. Smoking, excess alcohol, chronic stress, a diet high in sugar or ultra processed foods, restrictive diets, certain medications, lack of sunlight all have an impact as do gastrointestinal issues, anorexia, and ageing causing malabsorption. Reduced levels of one or more nutrients, may mean the body is unable to normally perform its functions and thus leading to increased infection susceptibility, poor wound healing, degenerative diseases associated with ageing, an increased risk of several diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. Preventing macro- and micronutrient deficiency is crucial and this could be achieved through supplementation and food-based approaches. approaches.

see this referenced article on nutritional deficiencies https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9710417/

Using bio-resonance testing techniques, this will reveal on an energetic level, any stress reaction or response when the body is exposed to the frequency of various minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids. Along with a sequential form of questioning, these various reactions are interpreted and may show deficiencies or excesses. This is a big help when wondering what supplementation plan, if any, to follow. Nutritional supplements can be very costly and so by focusing on the ones your body requires can be a great money saver.

Cost of testing £45

As an add on to this test, you may also bring along your own supplements to be tested for bodily compatibility and suitability which again may potentially save you £££’s in costly purchases.
